Looking for ways to foster creativity and connection for your children this winter? Allow professional artist Jordan Kim, to do just that by guiding your 5-11 year old though a 6-week series of weekly 1.5-hour creative classes designed to explore our connections to each other and the natural world.
Every Tuesday for 6 weeks starting January 11th, we will meet at the Mt. Hood Town Hall from 3-4:30pm for a creative play date to do a unique art project that incorporates social/emotional learning and lessons on the natural world. We'll start our time together outside for some winter exploration and movement after school. Then we'll move into the multi-purpose room at the Town Hall for some science and art. Over the course of the 6 classes, we will make 3 art projects (spending. two sessions on each project). The skills and lessons will build on one another, offering a unique opportunity for your child(ren) to experience the pride and self-confidence of working on a few more complex art projects. Every class will use a playful, engaging, and supportive tone. We place the highest value on curiosity, the creative journey, and taking risks over achieving an expected outcome or finished product. Most projects will have some extension component that can be done independently once class is over. Attendees will not know what the project is ahead of time, but can trust it to be a completely unique, fun, STEAM-type creative experience.
Class feee includes quality art supplies.
*I believe a school bus can be taken from Parkdale Elementary School to the Mt. Hood Town Hall. Arrangements must be made through the school.
Covid-19 precautions: I'm so elated to finally be offering classes IN PERSON again! To keep everyone safe, I will be requiring children to wear masks during the class. Classes will be limited in size, and all participants are required to be vaccinated. Children are encouraged to bring their own water bottle and snacks. Students will be spaced a minimum of 6 feet apart when eating/drinking.
Jordan is a professional mixed media collage artist, a teaching artist with Arts in Education of the Gorge, and was a professional ecologist for over 15 years. She frequently teaches students ranging from 5-85 years old through schools, in-person workshops, and virtual platforms.
