ABOUT ABOUT

Join professional mixed media artist, Jordan Kim, as she guides your 6+ year old though a 2-hour creative collage project online using the Zoom platform.  Jordan is a teaching artist with Arts in Education of the Gorge and frequently teaches students ranging from 5-13 years old through the public schools.  This project will focus on making mixed media collages to express our gratitude for those who are working hard to keep us all safe and healthy.  Whether is be health care workers, grocery stores, postal delivery workers, or friends and neighbors - we want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  We'll brainstorm all the people who are serving and ways we are being supported and then combine our ideas into creations fromt he heart.

To do this project, your child will need the following supplies:

  • White copy paper
  • Scissors
  • Crayons
  • Watercolors
  • White and/or black acrylic or tempera paint  - we can do without this, but if you have it, that would be great!
  • Glue - any kind will do - Elmers, Mod Podge, Glue Stick
  • One sheet of heavy paper - construction or watercolor (any color is okay)
  • Black sharpie
  • White gel pen ( a white crayon could substitute)
  • Collage papers (at least 3 types) - old newspaper, magazine, junk mail, scrapbook paper, old sheet music, wrapping paper, etc. (something that we can cut up and paint on!)
  • Texture tool - something to stamp with to make a pattern - (bubble wrap, toilet paper tube, old sponge, small piece of corrugated cardboard, etc.)
  • Printer - to print template sheets

If you need any of these items and live in the Gorge area, Tokki Art Supply *may* be able to help you get these supplies depending on availability. If this is not an option, contact me and I will work with you to come up with alternative supplies that will work.

If you are not familiar with Zoom, it is a free, secure, video conferencing  platform.  Once you register, you will be sent a secure link and password that you can use to log your child into the class on any device (phone, computer or tablet) at the scheduled class time.  You can choose to allow your child to share his/her screen or not.  Jordan will give *live* instruction.  (*Note that this is not a pre-recorded class!) If you opt to allow screen sharing, children can get personal assistance with their projects.  This is not a requirement for the course.

Cost  is $20/class. **Please note: Class fee is per household, not per child.** In partnership with Tokki Art Supply.

Restrictions

This class is for 6-12 year olds.  Younger children may need some assistance.
