ABOUT ABOUT

Looking for ways to foster creativity and connection for your children this fall without having to drive them anywhere? Allow professional artist Jordan Kim, to do just that by guiding your 5-10 year old though a 6-week online series of weekly 1.5-hour creative classes designed to explore our connections to each other and the natural world.

Every Wednesday we will meet virtually using Zoom from 3:30-5pm PST for a creative play date to do a unique art project that incorporates social/emotional learning and lessons on the natural world.  This fall play date session is a 6-week series.  Over the course of the 6 classes, we will make 3 art projects (spending. two sessions on each project). The skills and lessons will build on one another, offering a unique opportunity for yoru child(ren) to experience the pride and self-confidence of working on a few more complex art projects. Every class will use a playful, engaging, and supportive tone.  We place the highest value on curiosity, the creative journey, and taking risks over achieving an expected outcome or finished product.  Most projects will have some extension component that can be done independently once class is over.  Attendees will not know what the project is ahead of time, but can trust it to be a completely unique, fun, STEAM-type creative experience.  *Most supplies will be provided!*

There are a few supplies that I hope you will have at home including:

  • Scissors
  • Sharpie (black)
  • Pencil
  • Crayons/Markers/Colored pencils (any of these will do)
  • Water cup (for painting)

If you don't have any of these things, contact me and I will work with you to come up with alternative supplies that will work.

Once registered, you will be sent a secure link and password to log your child into the class on any device (phone, computer or tablet) at the scheduled class time.  You can choose to allow your child to share his/her screen or not.  Jordan will give *live* instruction.  (*Note that this is not a pre-recorded class!) If you opt to allow screen sharing, children can get personal assistance with their projects.  This is not a requirement for the course.

Jordan is a professional mixed media collage artist, a teaching artist with Arts in Education of the Gorge, and was a professional ecologist for over 15 years.  She frequently teaches students ranging from 5-85 years old through schools, in-person workshops, and virtual platforms.

Cost $150 per household with an additional $25/extra supply kit for siblings.  **Please note: Class fee is per household of up to 3 siblings.  If you have more than 3 children or more than one family signing on via the same computer, I ask that you please purchase another registration for each additional family, or  3 additional siblings. Thanks for your understanding.
