Seeking some creative inspiration and play for your 7-12 year olds? Allow professional mixed media artist, Jordan Kim, guide your child(ren) through a 3-part series on Mondays, Sept. 21, 28, and Oct 5, from 3-4pm PST. The class will be offered *live* (not pre-recorded) online using the Zoom platform. Jordan is a teaching artist with Arts in Education of the Gorge and frequently teaches students ranging from 5-13 years old through the public schools.
In this 3-part series, Jordan will guide your 7-12 year olds as we explore the work of Sonia and Robert Delaunay, (1885-1979) and (1885-1941). They were part of the bumping modern art scene in Paris at the turn of last century. They experimented with cubism and fauvism before founding the movement called 'orphism', which is all about rhythmic shapes and the interaction between colors and the relationships they create, particularly that between high contrasting colors. So, after analyzing some of Sonia and Robert's work, we will set off on our color and shape journey.
To do this project, your child will need the following supplies:
- Heavy white paper (watercolor paper would work best) 11"x14" or 9"x12"
- Oil pastels
- Pencil
- Compass (or round shapes we could use to trace circles)
- Ruler
If you need any of these items and live in the Gorge area, Tokki Art Supply can help you get these supplies depending on availability. If this is not an option, contact me and I will work with you to come up with alternative supplies that will work.
Once you register, you will be sent a secure link and password that you can use to log your child into the class on any device (phone, computer or tablet) at the scheduled class time. You can choose to allow your child to share his/her screen or not. Jordan will give *live* instruction. (*Note that this is not a pre-recorded class!) If you opt to allow screen sharing, children can get personal assistance with their projects. This is not a requirement for the course.
Cost is $50 for the 3-part series. **Please note: Class fee is per household of up to 3 children. If registering for more than 3 children in the same household, I ask that you please pay another registration fee.*
