Looking for ways to foster creativity and connection for your children this spring? Allow professional artist Jordan Kim, to do just that by guiding your 5-10 year old though a 10-week series of weekly 2-hour creative classes designed to explore our connections to each other and the natural world.
Every Thursday for 10 weeks starting April 4th, we will meet at the Mt. Hood Town Hall from 3:00-5:00pm for a creative play date to do a unique art project that incorporates social/emotional learning and lessons on the natural world. We'll start our time together outside for some exploration and movement after school. Then we'll move into the multi-purpose room at the Town Hall for some science and art. Over the course of the 10 classes, we will make 5 art projects (spending. two sessions on each project). The skills and lessons will build on one another, offering a unique opportunity for your child(ren) to experience the pride and self-confidence of working on a few more complex art projects. Every class will use a playful, engaging, and supportive tone. We place the highest value on curiosity, the creative journey, and taking risks over achieving an expected outcome or finished product. Most projects will have some extension component that can be done independently once class is over. Attendees will not know what the project is ahead of time, but can trust it to be a completely unique, fun, STEAM-type creative experience.

Need your kiddo to get to class without you haveing to shuttle them there? Parkdale Elementary School has a bus that stops at the Mt Hood Town Hall. You would need to make arrangements with the school to have your child ride this bus and get off at this stop. The bus drops kids off at the Town Hall at 2:30pm. For an added $5/week, I will meet your child at the Town Hall bus stop, assist them with after school needs (snacks, water, bathroom, etc.) and monitor them on the playground until class starts at 3pm. Jordan is a professional mixed media collage artist, a teaching artist with Arts in Education of the Gorge, and was a professional ecologist for over 15 years. She frequently teaches students ranging from 5-85 years old through schools, in-person workshops, and virtual platforms.
